Selvedge Run #5: New Brands Meet Classics

Today began the fifth edition of the order tradeshow Selvedge Run in the iconic Kulturbrauerei under the motto “Built on Trust”. In this unique atmosphere, 94 brands present their Spring/Summer 2018 collections spread out through the segments of menswear, shoes, accessories, as well as craft and lifestyle goods.

The location’s distinctive flair and the welcoming atmosphere of the Selvedge Run community make for a noteworthy event and bring together newcomers to the scene, like Kostera Crafted Denim from Poland, the Italian label Hen’s Teeth and True Heritage by Green Boots from Portugal. Classics, such as Stetson, Indigofera from Sweden, the US Labels Knickerbocker Mfg and 3sixteen are also part of the curated brand portfolio.

Old friends from the branch meet at the tradeshow, together with new international guests and buyers.

“We are very happy with the diversity of our brands that our exhibiting at Selvedge Run this summer. Our community is steadily growing with every edition, just as well as the interest in our segments. Though we are growing quickly, we stay true to our philosophy: all of our exhibiting brands stand for quality, craft and innovation”, says Shane Brandenburg, Sales Manager for Selvedge Run.

The Makers Yard, the lifestyle segment of Selvedge Run, has drawn a lot of attention from the visitors. Both regional and international labels present their collections from the categories: Outdoor, Skincare, Mobility, Home and Food. Located in the Palais Gallery and in the Outdoor Area, visitors and buyers have the chance to directly buy products from the brands.

A further highlight of the tradeshow is the selection of Japanese denim and apparel brands, some of whom have been with Selvedge Run since the start, about one quarter of the total exhibiting brands stem from Japan. Selvedge Run’s close relationship to the Japanese market will be celebrated at tomorrow ́s German premiere of the Japanese documentary “Weaving Shibusa” at the Babylon cinema at 21:00.

After the screening, there will be a Question & Answers session with the producer and shop owner Kiya Babzani (Self Edge USA) together with some of the cast. The

event is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased through the website or directly at Babylon (Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse 30).
