Portrait of Corthay

A remote region in West of France, in the small town of Beaupréau. In this rather noisy workshop, our white coats are stained and well used. Our machines are heavy, and old.

Here our craftsmen work hard with conviction, day in and day out, focused on crafting the finest shoes. And when the engines are run down, we fix them ourselves, and keep them well looked after, as if they are a member of the family.

This is not a story to cast light on the dream factory that you would usually hear about …This is what we actually do.

A very special know-how passed on from one generation to the next by the Compagnons, a French medieval guild. Brought to life in the bespoke atelier at No. 1 Rue Volney, Paris. The pursuit of perfection in bootmaking is like a never-ending quest, a constant challenge to reach excellence. Knowledge, savoir-faire and experimentation are at the heart of Maison Corthay. Playing with materials, techniques, colours and shapes.
